As a seasoned traveler, I have been on my fair share of flights (even 17 hours from Los Angeles to Singapore... one of the longest flights in the world!)
After spending hours upon hours on airplanes, here is a list of everything I think you need in order to fly comfortably - no matter how far you are traveling.
These are items I find to be absolutely essential for peace and comfort, and I have broke them down into categories! If you are traveling internationally... you might want to stock on everything from all 3 lists, P.S. Those flights are a doozy, but with the right tips and tricks, you can make them enjoyable - even in the middle seat in economy!
Short flights (under 4 hours)
- Portable charger - You never know if an outlet will be broken! I always travel with at least two portable chargers, just in case. Also incredibly handy for when you are in the airport waiting for your flight to take off.
- Good headphones - Noise cancelling is a must! I always travel with my airpods but I also like over the ear head phones for even more noise cancelling abilites.
- Neck pillow - I have tried so many, but this is my all time favorite! Even on short flights, I find myself wanting neck support.
- Phone holder - Probably the most handy little tool. This sticks to the back of your seat so you can easily watch movies from your phone.
- Good backpack + carry on - I prefer the Nordace Siena Pro 15 backpack (code MORGANW20 for 20% off if you order from their site). It has so many pockets for organization + fits nicely under the seat.
- Wet Ones - So you can wipe down your seat and hands before you eat!

Long flight (4+ hours... think LA to NYC)
- Everything from above and...
- Airfly - So you can connect the airplane TV to your own personal headphones via bluetooth.
- Pillow with blanket - You never know when it will be cold on a plane and this is so cozy + doubles as a pillow.
- Journal + pen - This helps me tremendously with my anxiety. I love to journal to take my mind of flying and help pass the time... also helpful if the TVs or wifi is down.
- Travel bags for organization - I never leave without little bags to organize my belongings. I like to separate my items inside my carry on for easier access and so I am not digging through the overhead compartment during the middle of the flight.
- Airtag - Please invest in this. I keep one in my checked luggage ALWAYS so I can track my bag if it ever gets lost!
- Collapsible water bottle - These are great so you can save space and also stay extra hydrated on the plane.

XL International flight (7+ hours)
- Leg hammock - Seems silly but this is game changing if you are sitting in economy!
- Compression socks - You don't realize how swollen you get when flying for long periods of time. These help with circulation and I have found to be really great.
- Eye mask (attaches to seat) - Your main goal on long international flights is to SLEEP. I like these style eye masks because they give extra neck support and keep your head from bobbing.
- Travel adapter - Always carry an international travel adapter!
- Liquid IV / electrolytes - You get incredibly dehydrated when flying and the tiny water bottles they give you don't do the trick. I always travel with Liquid IV to put in my water to help with extra hydration!
- CBD /melatonin - Again... the goal is to SLEEP. I like these mini travel pouches of melatonin but I also always travel with my Soul CBD gummies.
